President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam on
Dec. 24 visited Archbishop of the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese Cardinal
Pham Minh Man, and the General Confederation of the Southern
Evangelical Church of Vietnam.
On the occasion of
Christmas, Dam extended the seasonal greetings to Cardinal Man, and
applauded the responsibility and role of the Cardinal to the Catholic
Churchand community in Vietnam .
He affirmed that
Catholic followers are a part of the national unity bloc, expressing his
belief that the Cardinal and Catholic dignitaries will encourage
Catholic followers to participate in patriotic emulation campaigns and
contribute further to the country’s development.
For his part, Cardinal Man extended Christmas greetings to all Vietnamese people.
While visiting the General Confederation of the Southern Evangelical
Church of Vietnam, Dam wished Protestant dignitaries and followers a
peaceful and merry Christmas.
He praised contributions of
the confederation and Protestants to national construction and
development and called on them to continue following the State’s
policies and guidelines.
On behalf of the General
Confederation of the Southern Evangelical Church of Vietnam, head of the
church, Pastor Thai Phuoc Truong thanked the Party, State and Front
leaders for their attentions to the church in the recent past,
especially on the occasion of 100 years of the presence of
Protestantism in Vietnam (1911-2011)./.
