Vietnam capital spends over $1.6 mln to increase literacy

The Hanoi government has announced a nearly US$1.62 billion plan to increase its literacy rate.
The plan that extends to 2015 includes sending all primary and high school aged children to school, and allowing all kindergarten children at age 5 to study in well-built schools, news website VnExpress said Sunday.
Local authorities are required to encourage children in their area to go to school from age 5.
Under the plan, public kindergartens are asked to improve their teaching and nursery quality, while higher schools are supposed to reform their teaching methods with more IT applications.
