Mekong Delta elementary school teacher arrested for molestation

Police in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on Sunday arrested an elementary school teacher for allegedly sexually abusing his female students.
Mai Thanh Phong, the 21-year-old gym teacher at the Nui Sam B Primary School in Chau Doc Town, is being detained while investigations into child abuse are ongoing.
Recently, parents of 10 fourth and fifth graders sent letters of complaint to the school’s management board, saying their children reported that Phong followed them or forced them into the restroom and touched their private parts.
A student said she was molested for quite a long time, but she did not dare tell her parents immediately.
Instead, she told her classmates to stay away from the teacher whenever they saw him entering the restroom.
When he repeated his acts, the students reported the incidents to their parents. As soon as the parents sent complaints to the school, Phong was arrested.
