The bird weighs 7.5kg and has a wing span of 2.8m.
The local inhabitants, even the oldest, said they have never seen such a bird in the area. Some said that the bird looks like a kind of owl called To Lam Khau, in the local language.
The family said each day the bird eats up to 1.5kg of meat.
A local ranger believed that the bird might be a kind of vulture listed in the Red Book of Threatened Species, but it has never seen in the northwestern area of Vietnam before./.
