Government Should Not Immediately Stop A83 Gasoline Circulation

PDFPrintE-mail

Government should not ask to immediately stop circulating A83 gasoline as price of A83 is low, suitable with the low-income consumers, petroleum enterprises told local newspaper Vnexpress.

A83 gasoline was produced in Vietnam since 1995-1997, the demand for this type of gasoline is still high, focusing on students and low-income people, Dang Vinh Sang, general director of Saigon Petro said, adding that the government should give 6 months-1 year time frame for enterprises to prepare before stop producing A83.

Saigon Petro has already stocked materials for production in 6 months and if the government asks company to stop production, this will affect work of 100 workers.

Saigon Petro produces around 30.000 m3 A83 gasoline/year, accounting for 20 percent of the domestic shares. Besides, PV Oil, Nam Viet Company, Military Petroleum, etc also produce this type of gasoline.

In 2006, former Ministry of Commerce (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade) proposed government to allow only A92 and A95 in circulation, stopped other gasoline especially A83.

However, after that the prime minister has allowed A83 in circulation due to the high domestic demand and it can be used as source to mix gasoline meeting Vietnam's standard.
